“To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.”
― Henri Cartier-Bresson
“Cropping”
Cropping is a simple technique of removing the unnecessary clutter from your photographs. It is pretty easy to accomplish and can be done even with the most basic and free tools in your computers such as “windows picture manager” or the more advanced ones such as “Photoshop” or “Lightroom”. All you need to do is just select the most visually appealing part of your frame and mercilessly discard the rest. When used properly, cropping not only honours your picture with a completely new perspective, it also boosts the impact your photo might leave behind on the viewer by eliminating the so called background noise.
Cropping has always been considered as a sin among photographers ever since the beginning of photography era . This is specially true for full frame shooters. One of the reasons why modern day photographers avoid cropping is to keep all those precious pixels and some because they are not ready to accept the failure of their composition skills.
However cropping is regarded as a necessary evil by true photographers and they do support the idea of being a little bit cruel in your editing process.
